And vice versa. - R.A.H A slight change... The instructions for using the mail-based information server CCUC@UMCVMB have been changed slightly. The filename you send your request in should now be PCLIB REQ (instead of PC-LIB REQ). This has been altered because DEC VAX/VMS systems do not allow dashes in filenames. Otherwise, the server works the same as before. Thanks to Randy Davis and Stefan Momma for the info. New mailing lists... The following are descriptions of four new mailing lists available via BITNET. For information on other mailing lists, get the files ARPANET SIGLIST1 and ARPANET SIGLIST2 from any NETSERV file server. CBMLIST This mailing list is for users of all 8-bit Commodore Computer users, including users of the PET computers, CBM computers, B128, VIC-20, Commodore 64, and Commodore 128. It is for messages regarding any aspect of programming, software, or anything else pertaining to Commodore computing. All requests to be added to or deleted from this list, questions, comments, etc., should be sent to MKimmel@UMass. Coordinator: Matt Kimmel InfoCDC A network digest providing a communications forum for people who support and/or install Control Data (CDC) systems. In general, any topic which may be of general interest to people who support and/or install CDC systems is relevant to the digest, including: Problem reports and solutions, including information from the support system, SOLVER. Requests for help concerning problems on CDC systems. Announcements and reviews of new products or upgrades to products, including CDC supplied as well as site supplied products. Installation experiences/problems encountered when installing products: things to watch out for; things to avoid. All requests to be added to or deleted from this list, problems, questions, etc., should be sent to the Coordinator. Coordinator: Kevin Jordan EPSYNET PSYCHNET (tm) is a psychology mailing list, sending out information and academic papers to those who sign up. An initial formal purpose of Psychnet is distribution of academic papers in advance of the 1986 APA convention. Other purposes will develop according to the needs and interests of the profession and Psychnet users. Outside BitNet, Psychnet is a mailing list only. Within BitNet, Psychnet is also a 24-hour server machine which mails out files to users who first send the PSYCHNET HELP command to userid UH-INFO at node UHUPVM1 (*NOT* to userid EPSYNET). Once per week ALL members receive the latest Psychnet Index, or list of files available on the server machine. To have a file or idea distributed to members of the list send it to the primary list address and it will be sent out, usually with the week's Psychnet Index. Persons within BitNet may also sign up for the mailing list and will get the Index weekly along with other news. Users within BitNet should get their files directly from the server machine. An Exec file is available for CMS users and COM files are available for VAX users within BitNet. All requests to be added, deleted, or to have files distributed should be sent to EPSYNET@UHUPVM1. Coordinator: Robert C. Morecock, Psychnet Editor WELDCOMP%cascade.carleton.cdn%ubc.csnet@CSNET-RELAY.ARPA SIG for computer modelling welds, run from CASCADE (Centre for Advanced Studies in Computer Aided Design and Engineering) at Carleton University. Messages related to computer modelling welds and the following topics would be especially welcome; if traffic warrants, anyone of them could become a Special Interest Group (SIG), or distribution list: Weld pool physics Weld microstructures Residual Stress and Distortion Sensors and Control Failure Mechanisms and Analysis All requests to be added to or deleted from this list, problems, questions, etc., should be sent to WELDCOMP-REQUEST%cascade.carleton.cdn%ubc.csnet@CSNET-RELAY.ARPA. It comes up once a day at 6am local time to process requests. Any requested files will be sent to you at that time. To request a program or set of programs, send CCUC a file named PCLIB REQ containing the filespec of each file you want, one per line. No wildcards are allowed. Both IBM-CMS and IBM-PC type filespecs are allowed (i.e both 'COM_PKG1.ASM' and 'COM_PKG1 ASM' are valid). Each line is assumed to contain a filespec, so please don't send mail or note type files! An up to date, commented list of the Info-IBMPC library files is contained in the file PROGRAM-LIS. A CMS style file list which includes other available files and time/date stamps, is in CCUC FILELIST. Questions, complaints and suggestions regarding CCUC can be sent TO CCUC (use a filename other than PCLIB REQ), which will forward them to the CCUC operator. +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ ³ Database servers: ³ +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ DATABASE @ BITNIC - Bitnet Information Center +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ ³ Name servers: ³ +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ BITSERVE @ CUNYVM - City University of New York CSNEWS @ MAINE - University of Maine FINGER @ CUVMA - Columbia University LOOKUP @ RITVAXA - Rochester Institute of Technology LOOKUP @ RITVAXB - Rochester Institute of Technology LOOKUP @ RITVAXC - Rochester Institute of Technology LOOKUP @ RITVAXD - Rochester Institute of Technology NDCSNEWS @ NDSUVM1 - North Dakota State University VMNAMES @ WEIZMANN - Weizmann Institute of Science +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ ³ List servers: ³ +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ LISTSERV @ CEARN - Centre Europeen de Recherche Nucleaire LISTSERV @ BITNIC - Bitnet Support Center LISTSERV @ MARIST - Marist College LISTSERV @ NCSUVM - North Carolina State University LISTSERV @ NDSUVM1 - North Dakota State University LISTSERV @ TCSVM - Tulane University LISTSERV @ UCF1VM - University of Central Florida The current LISTSERV groups are listed in the file LISTSERV GROUPS which is available from the file server NICSERVE@BITNIC.
