Remember that big piece of news I gave you last week? The one about the new database server QSPIRES? Well, you can forget it. I misread the helpfile that I pulled from it which says that it is available to SLAC BITNET nodes. (But ONLY SLAC nodes...) Thanks to Tom Benson for the info. I have been getting a lot of letter lately which tell me that the Relay MAS@CORNELLC is really alive after all, but only at night and on weekends. Sounds like a vampire to me. (-36 on the Clever scale) In any case, one of the letters was qualified by the words "as long as the money holds out" or something to that effect. This strikes me as a very temporary situation and I know that if I put it in the list this week the funds will run out and I will have to run the funeral all over again. Let's talk about births instead. Tulane University is the proud father (mother?) of a bouncing baby RELAY@TCSVM. Thanks to Wendel Bordelon for the news. Likewise, a source which prefers to stay anonymous has passed on the news that University of Illinois has given birth to the Relay BASTILLE@UIUCVMC. Niccolo' Avico has given me the good news that there is a new electronic magazine out about REXX. Issues are available from LFCNET@ICNUCEVM via the /Get or /Send commands. The syntax rules for the filename are: filename: REXXyymm - where yy is the year and mm the month filetype: FORUM For example, the first issue is named REXX8511 FORUM. For those of you that are going home for the winter break I wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Drive carefully, don't drink and drive, use your seatbelts and don't forget to wear your galoshes! In terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis. Epi ge eirene en anthropois eudokias. Peace on Earth to men of good will. Virtually; Chris (Fuzzyman)
